(The Adviser)
There’s a plethora of supplements on the market, making it hard to narrow down which will deliver the best results. Trying them all would cost a small fortune. That's why we've done the hard work for you with our in-depth, rigorous research. We looked at many different sleep supplements to form this review, awarding points for ingredients (and their dosages), price, subscription models, packaging, manufacturing facilities, customer satisfaction, reviews, delivery times, and - most importantly - whether they positively impacted our trial users' sleep patterns. Read on to discover our final verdict.
Doctors are more and more regulary putting patients on extremely strong pharmiceuticals to manage sleep issues. These drugs are not suitable for long term use and come with a plethora of health risks when taken this way.
But, over the last century, scientists and researchers have discovered that numerous natural ingredients can have a truly positive effect on the quality of our sleep. A good sleep supplement can be life changing for anyone suffering with sleep problems.

If you're constantly feeling exhausted, it's possible that you're dealing with a sleep problem. Many people in the UK struggle with sleep deprivation (one in three) without realising its seriousness. Symptoms such as persistent tiredness, difficulty concentrating, mood swings and headaches are common indicators of sleep deprivation.
Factors like work demands, family obligations, stress, illness, and age can all disrupt sleep patterns, contributing to these symptoms. While some individuals resort to over-the-counter or prescription medications, these options can carry risks such as dependency and addiction and should only be taken short-term.
Considering the potential dangers of medication, many are exploring natural, long-term solutions to address sleep issues safely. To determine if a sleep supplement is right for you, it's important to carefully consider factors like ingredients and potential side effects.
If you find it hard to get to sleep, or you keep waking in the night, and you're experiencing ongoing exhaustion and other symptoms, it's advisable to explore potential solutions that promote better sleep quality.
Montmorency Cherry
This little wonder fruit is loaded with a natural source of melatonin, helping to promote a more restful sleep.
Passionflower
Dubbed "nature's sedative", this powerful flower has a relaxing effect that helps to reduce anxiety.
Magnesium
Magnesium relaxes muscles, enhances sleep quality, and regulates neurotransmitters for better overall sleep health.
B Vitamins
Studies have found that B vitamins, particularly Vitamin B6 can significantly help to improve sleep quality.
L-Tryptophan
L-tryptophan boosts serotonin production, promoting relaxation and aiding in better sleep quality and duration.
While many people experience poor sleep at some point in their lives, chronic sleep deprivation can lead to dangerous health complications. When left untreated, sleep deprivation can increase the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, stroke and heart failure.

Users found Sleepee capsules easy to swallow (Copyright Extracted)
Coming in at the top is Sleepee from Extracted. We found that many sleep supplements on the market only contain a handful of ingredients, often in lower-than-recommended dosages. Sleepee includes 11 ingredients, making it an overall more potent and well-rounded sleep product.
As well as an extensive ingredients list, they don't scrimp on their dosages. For example, the packed-full-of-melatonin Montmorency Cherry is included as an impressive 50:1 extract at 100mg - the equivalent of 5000mg of fruit. And we were pleased to see the appearance of Passionflower, dubbed "nature's sedative", that everyone in the wellness space is currently raving about, as well as Glycine. We liked the fact that its packaging is letterbox friendly and fully recyclable too.
Their product is also vegan friendly and free of gluten, GMOs and allergens, making it suitable for everyone.
Extracted has clearly carried out extensive research when formulating this product, and it shows. In our study, 82% of users reported they were falling asleep quicker at night, with 73% of participants saying they were waking up less frequently.
Extracted offers free delivery on all purchases, an easy-to-manage subscription model plus bundle options, and reviews consistently praise their attentive customer service, all backed by a passionate online community. All of the above have led us to handpick Sleepee as our ultimate winner.

Love Life Supplements is a lesser known brand in the UK, but they have a slew of products in their range, including their Calm complex. When we are reviewing supplements, we always look for complexes as these formulas combine a multitude of ingredients to create one powerful product.
The Calm complex is a unique mix of eight active ingredients. Although they include solid ingredients in their complex, we feel like they could have done with upping their dosages. For example, the supplement claims it is a ‘A blend of Magnesium and botanical ingredients’, but the Magnesium content only stands at 50mg per two capsules.
Additionally, this supplement includes Griffonia Seed Extract, which has come under scrutiny recently due to its dangers surrounding spiking serotonin levels, potentially leading to feelings of anxiety.
This said, 58% of users in our study reported they were falling asleep quicker at night, with 51% of participants saying they were waking up less frequently.
Love Life offers free postage, but only if your order is over £40.
A strong contender but some tweaks in the Calm formula are needed to make this even better.

Vitl is an interesting health and wellness company that not only creates supplements, but also at-home DNA blood testing kits.
Out of all the products we have reviewed, their sleep supplement has one of the larger ingredients lists.
We were initially very pleased to see Montmorency Cherry on the list, known for boosting the body’s melatonin levels, but upon further examination this ingredient has been included at a very low dosage: 160mg (when 5:1 as stated), which is unlikely to make any difference to sleep patterns. As a comparison, our winner includes Montmorency Cherry at the dosage level of 5000mg (when 50:1 as stated).
While we were initially impressed by the low price tag, it became clear that the reason behind this was due to the low dosages of ingredients. As such, it was no surprise that Sweet Sleep performed below-par with our users. Only 12% reported falling to sleep quicker, and 15% said they woke up less frequently during the night.
We had high hopes when we first looked through the ingredients, but the dosages would need to be seriously ramped up in order to make any difference to those suffering with insomnia.

Pukka, commonly known for their range of teas, has introduced a sleep supplement, ‘Night Time’, with three sleep-inducing ingredients: Ashwagandha Root Powder, Valerian Root Powder and Gotu Kola Aerial Root Powder.
Although these ingredients can help to promote restful sleep, our opinion is that they are better positioned to support calmness and help to relieve stress, and would be more suited to a herbal tea blend.
In our study, although participants reported feeling a little more ‘zen’, it didn’t seem to significantly impact sleep patterns. Only 7% of users said they fell asleep quicker, and 9% said they woke up less in the night.
We believe their product would be more effective if it also contained Montmorency Cherry along with other more powerful ingredients such as Biotin, Magnesium and Zinc. On top of this, each bottle contains just 30 capsules, yet the recommended daily serving is two capsules daily. This means that one bottle would only last a fortnight, which could be inconvenient - as well as costly - for many.

Ranked number five is the supplement Sound Asleep by BetterVits.
This vegan-friendly gummy contains five ingredients: Griffonia Seed Extract, Zinc, Vitamin B6, Chamomile and Lemon Balm; all ingredients are known for their positive effects on sleep.
While the gummy went down well with our users based on their berry flavour, some reported that a spike in sugar just before bed left them feeling ‘wired’, while others were unhappy with the added daily calories consumed. The majority of our users (88%) said they would prefer to take their supplements in capsule form.
In our study, 18% of users reported to fall asleep quicker at night, with 14% of participants saying they were waking up less frequently.
As mentioned, Griffonia Seed Extract has been shown to cause worrying side effects. Moreover, the low doses of ingredients such as Zinc (5mg) compared to our top-rated product’s dosage (20mg), and the lack of ingredients such as Magnesium and Montmorency Cherry, has left this supplement lacking in the ingredient stakes.
When it comes to choosing a supplement to improve sleep and rest, it is essential to choose a product that is made with high quality ingredients that are clinically studied and delivered in potent doses.
After searching the internet to find the best sleep products and evaluating them based on their customer service, ingredients and pricing, we believe Sleepee is the best on the market.
